Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or pork (or a mix)
  • 5-6 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup milk or cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Butter for greasing the baking dish
  • Fresh herbs like parsley or thyme (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.

  2. Cook the meat: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and garlic, cooking until soft and translucent. Add the ground meat, breaking it up as it browns. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook until the meat is fully browned, about 8-10 minutes.
